The Stowaway

“We don't really have an option, do we?”

Sam asked on behalf of the two other men down in the hole with him.

“I guess not,” the messenger answered.

Slowly, they climbed the steel stairs that led to a landing on the ship. They were led into a large, empty room on the skip and told to wait.

Sam looked around and saw caked blood on the ground. Just then, the captain came in with three of his men. They all had guns and appeared hostile. His whole life flashed before his eyes.

He had joined other ambitious young men in his village to run away on the cargo ship they had worked on.
He had told his pregnant wife that he was going to America to make good money and secure a better life for herself and their unborn child.
He would come back for them and take them back to America with him.

But now, he felt scared. He wasn't sure of that anymore. He felt death drawing closer with every fleeting moment. He felt hot liquid flow down between his legs.

As he began to mutter a prayer, the shooting began and darkness enveloped him.

Moral of the story: Our Country may be hard, but still, there's no place like home.

A lot of people have died in foreign lands all in the name of searching for greener pastures. If you must search, do it wisely and smartly. Don't endanger your life.
